His name is Tonto, he is a shih-tzu, and is now 16 weeks old. I'm loving it, and the best part is that he wakes me up early every morning, so I have no choice but to get work done.
Everything is Tonto, Tonto, Tonto, however, career wise things have been great. Recently, I went to New York to support my man, and came home early to head to The Rose Theatre, in Brampton, to audition for the musical A Chorus Line. Honestly, I didn't even prepare a song, because I didn't think I would make the first cut. I mean, come on, it's been a while since I've danced. During the audition, all I could think of was, "come on Melissa, just remember what step comes next." I did, and made the cut. Then I thought, "oh no, what am I going to sing?" That's when I found out I had 4 hours to wait before I had to sing. "Should I nap or study?" Let's face it, I wanted to nap, but that wouldn't have been too smart. Can you blame me? I have a baby puppy...I'm tired;)
I also auditioned for a Disney movie last week. I had to play this Entertainment Tonight type reporter, and had to memorize a page of dialogue in a day...no problem. So I get to my audition and first time through I nail it! The next take I am to do it a little more animated. Take one..bloop, take 2....bloop, take 3...bloop. I just can not get through the dialogue. We are all laughing, thank God, and I say "do you need a gag reel, because if you do, here you go." Finally I get it right and we all cheer. It's a good thing this casting director knows me very well. The audition was fun, very funny, and regardlss how it sounds, it went really well.
In regards to my film script, I got a hold of Savion Glovers manager yesterday, and things are progressing nicely. So are things with my music. I had a meeting at EMI Canada, and also have other potential meetings pending.
This is just a bit of news as to what has happened since my last blog.
