Embrace your voice. This can be easier said than done. It took me a long time to figure out how to love my voice. I have a naturally classical sound, and so whenever I use to sing contemporary songs, I felt I sounded funny. Because of this, I would try to remove the vibrato and the warmth would go. Then I remembered a voice coach once saying to me, "Your voice is your voice, and is what makes you unique." This was such simple advice, and yet resonates with me until today. Why would I want to sound like all the other pop artists out there? I have something special to bring to my music, and now write songs to incorporate all that I am able to do with my vocal chords. I can do things that a lot of recording artists can't do, and I need to embrace this. My voice is my voice and I love it! Don't be afraid to challenge yourself, play with different sounds, but don't ever wish you sounded like someone else.
Sing with confidence, sing with passion, sing with love!
